3.2 Demonstrate a clear understanding of how to widen children’s experience and raise their expectations.

    Amplification:
Ensure children’s experiences are planned and purposeful and give all children opportunities to learn and develop. Early Years Teachers ensure experiences are relevant, appropriate to children’s ages, needs and interests and support a range of learning styles. They ensure there are opportunities for child initiated play and build skillfully upon children’s own choices. They understand that when experiences and activities are of interest to children they are more likely to learn and develop. Early Years Teachers support and encourage children to evaluate their own progress and think about what and how they might improve.

I would say that Emma is on the right lies , activity plans , observations , transcripts , photographs of activities – anything theta provides evidence of how you have used the children’s interests to then purposefully plan an experience that builds on this interest

    HI Rosie

there is no official limit to using reflective logs but I over use them . There are other ways that you can provide written evidence such as case studies / critical reviews….
Also with reflective logs it is ‘ best practice’ to get a colleagues to counter sign in order to validate

Which sub standards are you thinking of?

    HI Despina and Isabellor

A standard essay layout would be preferable but you could use the bullet points as a guide / sub headings

No preferred way of referencing – whatever you are more comfortable with , but please include a reference list at the end

Explain the strategies you have put in place to support this child (be explicit)
Outline the impact the strategies have had for the child (?parent ?yourself ?Your colleagues)

    Good luck!

    Hi Katharine

How old is the child in question?

I would suggest that for this child lots of short bursts of 1:1 activities with an adult in a low level distraction area might be helpful. I would keep her targets small and very specific

Using items from home in a special box that she could help to decorate might be nice for helping her to calm down . – Go and get the box and share with ‘safe adult’

The Book ‘Special Needs and Early Years – a practitioners guide by Kate Wall ( 2011) has a chapter on intervention programmes which might give you some further ideas

    HI Irena
Thanks for uploading the task – in order for you to have this task marked and receive feedback you would need to email it to one of the Kay’s. In the feedback there will be a follow up task for you to complete with your setting mentor to support you in generating further evidence for S2.4
