Thank you, I shall look up your recommendation. My setting recently mentioned the potential for a designated mental health first aider.

    This is very familiar.
I do find it challenging to get my first speaker to pause so that I can then pause and explain that the second speaker needs to wait until I have returned and finished speaking with the first…tenth!
    This is egocentrism, eh?

Yes; circle time is great for turn taking in any ways.
Thinking on British values and democracy, I’m wondering how my cohort would react to a ‘hands up to vote’ if I set up a ‘this or that’ choice activity where the majority wins, so to speak.

In contrast, my setting is very in the
moment. There are some disadvantages to this for an EYITT student though.

As a starter, when it comes to really listening, I am ware that I can speed along to where I think the child is going…I have been practising patience to allow them enough thinking and speaking time to fully answer. I like the way reflecting back simple words they have used tends to work to keep them talking yet demonstrates that they have my attention.

Hi Sarah, that’s really helpful. Thank you. I’ll be downloading that!
It will be interesting to read the other non-stat document on birth to 5 matters when it gets released in March.

Also posted in other hub, yet altogether here.

I’d very much like to improve the recording style of my observations, peer and child.

    Hello everyone,

I’m hoping to make use of the wealth of our hive-mind for inspiration.
When you find some time, likely in the New Year by now, may I request photographs of your setting’s reading area/zone, please, if you are happy to share? (perhaps more appropriate when free of little ones to navigate the GDPR/consent constraints etc)

I’d like to explore the visuals of the design aspect (aside from the perfection of Pinterest) with the invitation to read. The Curiosity approach to pedagogy has caught my eye!

    Thanks in advance.

I enjoyed this clip. Thank you.
I’m learning how to be more sensitive to the children’s play instead of taking over and interfering which is now possible because of the relational bedrock I’m building.
