Hello everyone!
Just some ideas from what I did last year for my evidence:
– I created a interactive welcome sign for my setting, where our parents and carers would write welcome in their home language. This influenced discussions between key person and parents about their home language and how else we could implement them into the setting.
– I cascaded makaton training at a staff meeting and got a practitioner to take pictures of me teaching signs and explaining its importance.
– I reflected on research focused on the impact of forest schooling on children and identified what I can did at my setting to emulate its positive impactsAmyClifton1ParticipantHello everyone!
Just some ideas from what I did last year for my evidence:
– I had a professional discussion with a member of staff who had experienced a safeguarding incident. I wrote a reflection on this discussion and identified how it would impact my further practice.
– I completed an observation on how I allowed the children to manage and take risks. They helped evaluate to room and identified that it would only be safe if 3 children were allowed on the climbing frame at once, for example
– I reviewed my settings child protection policies and identified changes/areas that needed further discussion that was needed with management.AmyClifton1ParticipantHello everyone!
Just some ideas from what I did last year for my evidence:
– Reflection on a two year old check I completed and it’s implication on my practice
– I created a information booklet for parents regarding how their babies were assessed at nursery
– I evidenced some of the ways I interacted with parents during lockdown on Facebook and via email to ensure we still worked in partnership and gained feedback regularly with them throughoutAmyClifton1ParticipantHello everyone!
Just some ideas from what I did last year for my evidence:
– I completed some SEND training as I identified in my IDP that this was an area I had less experience and knowledge in. From the training, I then reflected on what I had learnt and evidenced examples of what I actioned.
– As my change project was focused on communication and language development, I wrote a reflective account on how this area of development progresses from birth to 5 and explained how I would adapt my environment to support these ages.AmyClifton1ParticipantHello everyone!
Just some ideas from what I did last year for my evidence:
– I reflected on the SEND support in my setting and implemented visual timetables in all environments. This then progressed to implementing social stories – with photos of the children themselves washing their hands to brake down the set-by-set process.
– My setting mentor observed me working with a small group of children of different ages and I then reflected on how I had to adapt my practice to support them all.
– I held a discussion with a practitioner that works with a different age group so we could compare and analyse how we support early mathematics differently.AmyClifton1ParticipantHello everyone!
Just some ideas from what I did last year for my evidence:
– I completed a timed observation on a key child of mine that I knew needed further support in making relationships with his peers. From doing this, I then applied two theories of social play development to his tracking and critically analysed how this impacts on my understanding of the child’s needs and how to support him.
– My setting mentor observed me completing a science experiment with a small group of children and the reflected on its impact on my practice.
– I reflected on how physical development progresses from EYFS to Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2AmyClifton1ParticipantHello everyone!
Just some ideas from what I did last year for my evidence:
– I made Sustained Shared Thinking prompt cards with wording such as “I wonder…” and “what would happen if…” and placed them round the room and outside area to act as prompts for staff. I then reflected on the observation that staff were using SST language and scaffolding a lot more.
– I recorded a transcript of a conversation between myself and a group of children were it highlighted that I was using sustained shared thinking. We read a book about different cars and a child mentioned that their brother goes go-karting. This initial interest led to us junk modelling a child size go-kart together. I then wrote a reflective account on the experience.AmyClifton1ParticipantHello everyone!
Just some ideas from what I did last year for my evidence:
– Making changes to the environment – having the children help you ‘audit’ the environment by asking them what they would like or want to change. From this my children wanted more music so I made a music wall in the garden using old pots and pans.
– You could analysis your setting’s cohort tracking data and plan how you will develop the environment in order to meet their specific needs.
– Hold a staff meeting where you discuss dispositions, abilities and backgrounds and minute this group discussion.AmyClifton1ParticipantHi Maria – Yes all done! Thank you!!!
AmyClifton1ParticipantThank you Nicky that is very helpful!
AmyClifton1ParticipantThank you very much Amanda that is very helpful!
AmyClifton1ParticipantOh and also 8.7 please! Any ideas would be great x
AmyClifton1ParticipantHi Everyone! I hope you are all okay?
I’m a bit stuck on 5.2 at the moment – I was planning on having a mentor observation as a piece of evidence but will have to change this. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Amy
AmyClifton1ParticipantBrilliant thank you Nicky, all good here thank you. Hope you are keeping well!

AmyClifton1ParticipantHello Nicky!
Brilliant thank you! Sorry one more question, with our setting mentor observations, should we also complete a reflective account to go alongside that too?
