Thank you all for the peer observation- some lovely activities being carried out!
Some reflections:
Lauren : Wonderful to question whether the responses were actually form the children themselves! I like the way you are encouraging your colleagues to value the children by asking them what they would like in their scrapbooks – encouraging ownership. Q – does your colleague understand why you have made this suggestion?
Lydia: – Lovely interactive activities supporting children’s learning . You make the impact of the session very clear – e.g. enabling the younger children to explore using the props and introduction of new language. Excellent ideas for consolidating the children learning through enabling time for a reflection session at the end. This would further support your colleagues to make in the moment assessments and use this to plan for extending next steps. Q – could your colleagues complete a reflection session with the children at the end of an activity and reflect on what they have learned form this?
Emma : excellent to support your colleague to ensure children are able to have time to explore using their senses – whilst waiting for their peers – never miss an opportunity for learning! Q – does your colleague understand why the should have been supported / encouraged?
Also lovely ideas to include a warm up activity to introduce the children to something new.
Rosie: very clear content in the observation and really good to see how you are encouraging deeper critical thinking though providing your colleague with a range of strategies to use when questioning children. The advice for giving specific praise is spot on as this will further promote a ‘can do attitude’. Q does your colleague understand the benefits of using specific praise?
Very Well done everyone!
