    Hi all,

A great session today. Below is a list of resources created by my group (presented today). They are promising to add photos, please feel free to add them here!

Treasure baskets with natural materials; everyday objects; themes, including monochrome and mirrors.
Sensory story sack – Farm Hullabaloo with toy animals with different textures.
A sensory hoop – hula hoop with broad range of materials attached to it to explore – need photo to do it justice Keri!!
A ‘peek-a-boo’ sensory board – ‘peek-a-boo’ element made from plastic flap from wet-wipe packet with different materials hidden behind.
Sensory bottles containing various substances, 1 including fairy lights and with dried glue on the outside for texture.
Playdough to support storytelling and with smell incorporated.
Coloured movement bags containing pictures of animals for children to imitate the movement illustrated.
Sensory zipped bags and smelly pots.
Paint exploration – large paper on floor, paint and oil squeezed over it, topped with sticky back and secured around the edges with tape – children can walk, roll, crawl on without getting dirty but experiencing cause and effect on materials.
Nursery rhyme bag – contains objects to stimulate the singing and actions for a rhyme.

Fabulous work all, very well done!

    HI all

Resources / activities from my group today:

sensory pouches in different areas / heights
‘I am special I am me’ family tree
Edible paint (thank you for the photos Summer)
Family member picture board using coloured flaps – ideas to extend this include using different materials for lifting the flaps to incorporate further sensory exploration
Piano mat and different household items within different areas of the room to encourage exploration of sound / sound discrimination
Music basket with visual cues to promote children’s choices – extension include using a decorated Pringles tube with laminated pictures cards that could then be posted through the lid – again this could incorporate some sensory textures on the outside of the tube
Large sensory box including ribbons , pompoms, sensory pushes and balloons
Family bags with photos / pictures of familiar people on one side and different textures on the other side – could be used in numerous ways including supporting transporting / enclosing schemas.
Story bottles – specifically supporting ‘ Going on a bear hunt’.
Use of ribbons and scarves tied together to pull out of a box ( like a magic trick)- engages joint attentions , sensory , playing peekaboo, could be used to support enclosing schema wrapping one self in the scarfs, naming colures and as props in story telling
Autumn themed treasure basket including range of natural resources, jars for filling and emptying, pumpkins, sensory bags / pouches, toy animals such as hedgehogs , squirrels, leaves , conkers etc
Use tubes and different sized pom moms – posting and pushing actives – problem solving adding further resources to extend such a pipe cleaners , different sized balls.
High contrasting coloured sensory bottles could be extend for older children using pipe cleaners and paperclips – exploring effects of using magnets

Wonderful ideas – please do feel free to add further photos!

Just saw a fantastic activity on the Tuff Trays Facebook page where someone had made edible sand by blending Cheerios and putting in a builders tray on the floor for babies to crawl in. They had some clean brushes, looked like some sort of make up brush or fluffy painting brush, and the baby was mark making in the sand with the brush

Some really lovely ideas for supporting our very young children – such an important stage of development.

There is strong evidence that the child’s first 10001 days are crucial for long term positive outcomes.

There is the 1001 all party manifesto that sets out some of this evidence
